Not one person is the same, so finding the help that works for you is really important. Maybe you can find help from therapy, spiritual guide, medication, self-help courses, etc. there is lots available. The key is to find what resonates with you and helps you address the root causes so that the behavior is different.
I learn a lot from some of the self help gurus on YouTube, articles from experts in the field and meditation. However, this was not enough. My progress was good, in that I was learning to deal with my responses to my triggers, but I never got to the root cause of these triggers. Like putting duct tape on a dam that is about to burst. Every time I would have a response that I didn't like, I would find a new way to deal with it. I was in full on panic mode when I realized that the best way to fix that dam that is about to burst is to drain the lake, find the source of the weakness and address that. I thought, "holy shit... I have a lot of work to do." Then I remembered that I am doing this for the greatest reason ever, ME. Everyday we invest massive amounts of time in the dumbest things that truly have no positive impact on our lives. Why not spend that time working on something that will have the greatest payout.
Cool, I have got the motivation the drive to do this.... Now, where the hell do I start????
So I took to Google to research the best methods of addressing triggers, emotional disconnects, spiritual awakening, learning to deal with negative emotions, and so on. Didn't realize this before, but there are 415,000,000 hits on "methods of addressing triggers"! So, that was not very helpful.
I ended up getting pointed toward hypnotherapy as a way to uncover the source of the issue and then learn a better way to deal with it. This intrigued me as it was never anything that I considered, but I figured if they can get a life long smoker to stop, then maybe they could help me out as well.
I originally found an amazing person in Texas that was interested in helping me make my discoveries. I had every intention of going to Texas (from Mexico) for a few weeks and transforming my life. But then the universe stepped in and put in my path a different solution. Turns out that there is a very qualified person not far from me. I made contact with her and we had a great connection. She was helpful and caring. I am so excited to try this method to start my journey.
Now, this is not the 1-stop shop for all my emotional needs. There is work that I need to do on myself outside of that.
Getting to the root cause will definitely help, but there are other parts to being whole and complete that need addressed.
Remember that wholeness is where the spiritual, mental and physical all meet.
I have begun my daily gym routine, working on my diet, meditating, and doing my research. However, Loba had also pointed out something that I am lacking... I need support. I have always had great friends, but not friends that you could really have a deep and meaningful conversation with. This is critical to growth and wellbeing. So I am going to start branching out, connecting with people that can bring light into my life and that I feel can be counted on if I need support along the way. This will not be a one-sided relationship, I would love to offer the same to them as well.
The need to be whole is very strong, the journey will be long, but I am excited to take these first steps.
Progress is exciting.
