In writing the last post (Crazy Dream), I thought a lot about why I was a woman in the dream. I am not sure if this is it, but I figured that I would throw it out there anyway.

My partner, Paola, is also working on herself. She has identified as a mom for the majority of her life and is working on detaching from that identity to live her life as a strong, driven and inter-dependent woman. She has been going through some tough times in accomplishing this goal, but she is making incredible progress. She sets strong and healthy boundaries, she does her own inner-work, she has a clear vision of the life that she wants to live, and she is determined to live for herself. Paola is one of the strongest and self-confident women I have ever met. In fact, that is one of the things that attracts me to her the most, even though she can be a little abrasive with her delivery 😉. The incredible job she has done in raising her 3 children, is one she can be extremely proud of as they are great adults now. In her inner-work she has been working on detaching from her previous life of identifying as “mom”, she has been showing vulnerability (which is incredibly attractive), trusting more, shedding the fiercely independent woman persona, and keeping her guard down in attempts to being more open. Her progress is outstanding and her resolve is more than impressive.

So, in the dream, the astronaut was a woman…. Maybe this also represented Paola leaving the life she has lived for so many years, detaching from the certainty that was provided by being mom while living for others and not for herself; Moving forward into a new life and a new way of living. Her new life is full of joy, love, compassion, caring, confidence and choice. Sure, it can be terrifying… like plummeting to the ground, but she also has the tools, knowledge, confidence and determination to handle whatever comes her way. She is feeling the heat, the pressure, and maybe a little fear as she navigates to her destination. Her ability to adapt and overcome adversity is strong, and gets stronger day-by-day. The people communicating in the dream could represent those in her life that are trying to keep her safe in the life she has known, or maybe it is their fears of not having mom always be there for them. It could also represent the fears that she has in making those changes and the possible repercussions that could come from those changes.

Change is difficult for everyone; however, she will never stop being mom, she just won’t always be mothering. This is something that she has indicated that she wants to change for herself as it is time for her to live her life for her, cut cords. It is going to be a difficult adjustment, but in doing so, everyone can be happy that she has the tools, knowledge and support to do so. In the long run, she will be safe and happy and breaking new ground. Everyone involved will be happy for her as she arrives in her new life, her new identity.

Paola is an absolutely incredible example of a supportive, nurturing and caring mother. She has spent the majority of her life dedicated to her family. She now embarks on a new journey, leaving that familiar role behind, finding freedom to live life the way she wants, exploring herself and living the second half of life for her in joy and love with a focus on making the best life for herself. As she journeys to the landing area… I will be right there waiting for her, supporting her on her journey and ready to continue the journey right by her side.
